Eaves' plan for "second chances" approved

Today the Board of Coproclamation_naacp_2-3-10mmissioners endorsed a plan sponsored by Chairman John Eaves that will start the process of reclaiming young lives, reducing costs, and relieving overcrowding in county jails in the future. The commission adopted Resolution 2010-1028, which calls for the county to begin the paperwork and process to compete for as much as $750,000 in federal money to help with reducing the number of repeat offenders in the county justice system.

"I am extremely excited that the Board agreed with me on this important issue," said Eaves. The opportunity for the county to use federal dollars, with a possibility of not having to put up any local dollars is a win-win for all people in Fulton."

2010 Budget Approved

Budget Reflects No Tax Increase and No Salary Reductions for County Employees

The Board of Commissioners was also able to stave off a 4 percent salary reduction for Fulton County employees as previously projected.

We identified cost savings in several ways including holding the line on spending. Working with our county manager and our finance team, we used methods such as hiring freezes, reductions in positions, and investing in the jail, to assist us with reducing this budget.
